Mike Miller, CAT, CCTP

Programme Director

The Cabin Chiang Mai

"As the Programme Director of an international, luxury residential addiction and trauma treatment facility who has worked in many different facets of addiction treatment for the past 17 years, including private practice as a therapist, interventions, residential inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, medical monitoring and providing substance abuse educational services, I know that reputation is everything, and people will only use services if they believe that the providers are ethical and professional.

I have known Jonny for approximately 15 years and consider him a professional colleague as well as a friend. Even though I am on the other side of the world we speak often about providing services to people who are likely at the most vulnerable and desperate points of their lives, and how it is our responsibility to protect them in every step of their journey of recovery. In these conversations Jonny regularly illustrates that he is cognizant of his responsibility to be ethical and always make the best decision for the individual that he is trusted to help. He makes this commitment regardless of what other providers may be doing in practice, or what is accepted as “industry standard”, and is determined to be an ethical and professional service provider.

This is what makes it easy for me to endorse Jonny’s services and say that I would trust any of my clients to his care. I believe that he is motivated to help people above all else, and after all, that is the only reason that anyone should be in this field in the first place."

"My husband had been struggling with addiction for many years and I was stuck in a cycle of insanity. Everything I did to try to help him ended up enabling him. The situation felt hopeless and I was ready to give up when my mother-in-law found out about Jonny through a friend. After speaking with Jonny, we knew he was the right one to help my husband. Though I was full of doubt that an intervention would work, Jonny was confident it was a step in the right direction after all other avenues had failed. Jonny helped my husband’s parents and I, stage a very effective intervention and within an hour my husband agreed to go to treatment. Jonny had already coordinated my husband’s care at the best treatment center available and the staff there were prepared for him before he even arrived.

My husband has been sober since May 1st 2018. We just bought a new home, we welcomed our beautiful son in March 2019 and we have another baby on the way. We can’t thank Jonny enough for what he’s done for our family. I highly recommend Jonny for any intervention no matter how hopeless you think your situation is."

"Being the parent of a child in active addiction is the scariest journey I have been on. You pray for them to stop, to get help to just be normal....you want your life to be normal. What the heck happened, how did we get here? I spent years blind to what was going on, years bailing my son out - believing that my love was the cure. As his addiction escalated so did my addiction to trying to fix him.

When he finally accepted help and got into a treatment program I felt relief and hope. What I didn't expect was to also feel lost and out of control. My son finally had a safe place to recover, people to support him and to guide him. After years of cycling with my son in active addiction it was hard for me to trust that changes were really happening. Along comes Jonny. It was vitally important to me as a mom to have Jonny to talk to. He listened to my fears and concerns, he helped me to understand what I needed to do to support my son; as well as, help myself through the process of my sons recovery. I never felt that I was wasting his time or that my questions weren't valid. I felt heard, understood and validated. I felt a true compassion for my son.

Even though he didn't know it at the time, Jonny talked me off a few ledges when my sons recovery journey would twist and turn. I know that my sons journey is his and that I am on the periphery of that, but it's amazing to have someone like Jonny to support me on the sidelines and to be there for my son in the trenches if needed."

Unfortunately, addiction has touched our household in a variety of ways. Jonny has been alongside our family on the journey towards sobriety, lending support, education, counselling services and even in facilitating interventions. In our family situation it was not a one time fixed all scenario, but we were fortunate enough to have the ongoing support of Jonny. There has not been a time when a call was not answered, or that he was not available to connect and discuss the best course of action.

In all cases Jonny has presented himself professionally, with a caring but straightforward approach that was appreciated and appropriate. Jonny has worked hard throughout the years to coordinate the best fit in treatment, and to offer ongoing support. I have no doubt that Jonny’s behind the scenes efforts on many occasions went long into the evening, and were outside of regular business hours. He cares about his clients, their family’s and has proven committed to helping real people get and stay sober.

I would never hesitate to recommend Jonny for any position related to recovery, addiction, or support in mental health. I would also encourage anyone who is currently struggling, or has a family member that is, to reach out for a consultation. I have full confidence that you will receive the support and guidance that is needed.
